Overview
Kashmir is a region administered by India as a union territory. The word Kashmir is thought to have been derived from Sanskrit and was referred to as káśmīra. A popular local etymology of Kashmira is that it is land desiccated from water. The best time to visit Kashmir is during the months of March to August. Tourists come to Kashmir valley so they too can witness this ‘heaven on earth’ and enjoy all that it offers. Kashmir Valley is known for its lakes and gardens. Gulmarg, one of the most popular ski resort destinations in India, is also home to the world’s highest green golf course.
